Our current show at Image City is by noted photographer Cole Thompson. Cole grew up in Rochester, but now lives in Colorado. He is a fine-art photographer who specializes in black-and-white. He says, "For me color records the image, but black and white captures the feelings that lie beneath the surface."

The current exhibit is of his portfolio The Ghosts of Auschwitz-Birkenau. In describing the work, Cole recalled that "I had not intended to photograph during my tour of the camps but after being there a few minutes, I felt compelled. With every step I wondered about the people whose feet had walked in exactly the same footsteps. I wondered if their spirits still lingered there today. And so I photographed ghosts." Gallery patrons enjoyed visiting with Cole during the opening receptions and the opportunity to participate in a workshop on his black-and-white photography.

In our East Gallery is an exhibit titled Histoires de France by photographer, educator, and art-historian, Bruno Chalifour. A native and frequent visitor to France, Bruno takes us there with his finely crafted photographs. He observes that "Fine art photography, just like any other form of art, is about craft (technique and its mastery) content, emotion, and esthetics"

The Guest photographers for the exhibit are Paloma Capanna, TC Pellett, Stephanie Quiñones-Millet and Steve Tryon as well as Camera Rochester award-winning photographers Lynda Howland, David Kotok, Luann Pero, Karen Walker, Ron Weetman, and John Williamson. We round out the show with work by David Perlman and Jim Patton, Artists-in-Residence, and Gallery Partners Dick Bennett, Carl Crumley, Steve Levinson, Gil Maker, Don Menges, Dan Neuberger, Betsy Phillips, Gary Thompson, Phyllis Thompson, and Sheridan Vincent.
