Through the Student Lens 2014 | | Current Show Runs Through Saturday, April 19 Join Us!! April 4th is First Friday Gallery Night The current exhibit is Through the Student Lens 2014, our fifth annual show of photographs by area high school students. Each school collaborated to select ten photographs of their student work. Sixteen schools are participating. The exhibit gives the students the opportunity to display their classroom learning and artistic talents in a true gallery setting with the opportunity for sales as a potential additional reward. The Gallery Partners chose BOCES-EMCC school for the grand prize award in the exhibit. Congratulations to all of the students and teachers for their production of a fine exhibit of photographs! We also very much appreciate the contributions to the exhibit by Michael Hager, Museum Photographics, who printed the student photographs, and Jason Campbel, Frameworks of Rochester, who mounted the photographs for display. Guest Photographers for this show are David Ridley and Hank Shaw, with Bruce Bozman who is in the East Gallery. The Camera Rochester exhibit has competition-winning photographs by Archie Curry, Patti Kocinski, David Kotok, Sheila Nelson, David Schroeder, and Dave Valvo. We round out the show with Artists-in-Residence and Gallery Partners Dick Bennett, Carl Crumley, Steve Levinson, Gil Maker, Don Menges, Jim Patton, David Perlman, Dan Neuberger, Betsy Phillips, Gary Thompson, Phyllis Thompson, and Sheridan Vincent. Image City Critiques: Wednesday, April 2 at 7pm | | The Critique Group will meet again on Wednesday, April 2nd at 7:00 pm. The assignment for April is to shoot images within the boundaries of Alexander St. on the west; Culver Rd. on the east; Park Ave. on the south; and East Ave. on the north. Within those boundaries you are to send 4-5 images you have taken. You can shoot inside or outside. Landscape; cityscape; street photography; architecture; macro; flowers; salt & pepper shakers... any topic you want. BUT... you MUST stay within the boundaries. For instance, you can shoot a subject on the north side of east Ave. as long as you don't cross the street. Ask for permission to shoot inside some of Park Ave's wonderful shops and restaurants. Don't be shy... be creative! The weather is about to turn... Be Ready! Email your images to Don Menges by April 1st. dmenges@rochester.rr.com. |
