Through the Student Lens 2015

Current Show Runs Through Sunday, April 19

Join Us!! April 3rd is First Friday Gallery Night

The current exhibit is Through the Student Lens 2015, our sixth annual show of photographs by area high school students. Each school collaborated to select ten photographs of their student work. Thirteen schools are participating. The exhibit gives the students the opportunity to display their classroom learning and artistic talents in a true gallery setting with the opportunity for sales as a potential additional reward. The Gallery Partners chose West Irondequoit High School for the grand prize award in the exhibit. Congratulations to all of the students and teachers for their production of a fine exhibit of photographs! We also very much appreciate the contributions to the exhibit by Michael Hager, Museum Photographics, who printed the student photographs, and Jason Campbell, Frameworks of Rochester, who mounted the photographs for display. Don Menges is chairman for the student show.

Guest Photographers for this show are Bonnie Gamache and Emily Kinney. Carl Crumley's exhibit in the East Gallery features fine photographs in a photographic study of the Chuang Yen Monastery in Putnam County, NY.

We round out the show with Artists-in-Residence and Gallery Partners Dick Bennett, Carl Crumley, Steve Levinson, Gil Maker, Don Menges, Jim Patton, David Perlman, Dan Neuberger, Betsy Phillips, John Solberg, Gary Thompson, Phyllis Thompson, and Sheridan Vincent.

Click here for the details as well as a list of all 13 participating high schools and a preview of images in the show. The exhibit runs through Sunday, April 19. The Gallery will be closed on Easter Sunday, April 5. There is no admission fee at Image City and is accessible to all.
Image City Critiques: Wednesday, April 1 at 6:30pm

The Image City Critique Group meets again Wednesday, April 1st at 6:30 PM. Recall that we are in our new format; $20 to join and $5 per review session. We will take care of financial matters at the beginning of the meeting. Please bring two of your best images for us to critique. We will run through one image for everyone, and, if there is enough time, we will look at your second image. Be prepared to talk about your image.

We will no longer use a projector to look at images. Instead, you will need to bring prints.
- Minimum size 8.5 x 11 - inches
- Matting not necessary, but encouraged
- You can print your own images, use an online service, or print them at many local retail stores like Walmart.
- if you stay with a defined size, you can buy a matt and reuse it each month.
